The Creative Journey

“I’ve seen women insist on cleaning everything in the house before they could sit down to write… and you know it’s a funny thing about housecleaning… it never comes to an end. Perfect way to stop a woman. A woman must be careful to not allow over-responsibility (or over-respectabilty) to steal her necessary creative rests, riffs, and raptures. She simply must put her foot down and say no to half of what she believes she “should” be doing. Art is not meant to be created in stolen moments only.”

– Clarissa Pinkola Estés

I’m passionate about creativity and how it supports physical and mental/emotional health, how art tells stories, alerts us to important issues and can heal emotional blocks, like perfectionism. I’m also keen to support other adults who have come to art later in life and the challenges this presents in our “Insta-gratification” world.

My aim for this website is to share my artistic responses to bursts of creative ideas, how to find inspiration and how I use art as a way of healing. In the coming months/years, I also want to explore how my creative output can highlight important social and environmental issues that matter.

Creativity can also help us during challenging moments and as a way to find a moment of calm in a chaotic world.

I share my stories in the blogs that appear on this site, images of my work here and on Instagram and sometimes I share inspiring quotes and stories on Facebook.

I hope the stories I share and the art I make inspires you towards personal growth and to making your own kind of art.
